3. describe the steps of developing of work environment where people will seek to excel
4. as per your experiences, for a hotel industry what kind of management styes we can adapt? Explain your answer.

ANSWER :
1. In my opinion, Directing is leading people. Not managing things. because directing itself is an action to make each group members of organization do the efforts to reach the goals based on the organization's plan. and in this case, directing is concern to the human/people which related on giving guidance, suggestion or instruction to the human/ people in doing the jobs. so that, the job can be done well. so, directing is more concern in controlling people while managing is more concern in controlling the things.

2. Maslow's pyramid is a theory in psychology that explain the varieties of human needs based on different levels which it means which human needs should be met first until the last needs in the top of the pyamid. the hierarchy is start from :

1. Biological and Physiological needs - air, food, drink, shelter, warmth, sex, sleep.
2. Safety needs - protection from elements, security, order, law, limits, stability, freedom from fear.
3. Social Needs - belongingness, affection and love, - from work group, family, friends, romantic relationships.
4. Esteem needs - achievement, mastery, independence, status, dominance, prestige, self-respect, respect from others.
5. Self-Actualization needs - realizing personal potential, self-fulfillment, seeking personal growth and peak experiences.
I think, with doing some jobs. for a hardwork. Working can meet their needs and will fulfill 5 needs above. because jobs earn money which can require 1. Physiological needs like human life, ec : food, 2. people will feel safety with all needs that required, 3. with work people can deal or interact with other people well so social needs fulfilled, 4. with working people will be respected by other people based on the achievment and status in the society and the last 5. people will develop the potential that they have with working. so, it helps enough people to meet their needs

3. Work relationships are important for building a career and finding satisfaction in your job. To learn how to develop positive work relationships, these are 5 steps to do that :
  1.  Employ active listening techniques.
To develop positive work relationships, it is important to listen closely to what your colleagues are saying. Active listening techniques involve repeating back to the person who is talking what you heard him or her say. This assures that you and your co-worker are on the same page.
  2. Allow for open communication. Co-workers should be able to freely express their thoughts on work-related issues in a professional manner. In team meetings or one-on-one sessions, co-workers should be encouraged to voice their opinions about a project and express their ideas. Open communication is important for team building and increasing morale. If you are a supervisor or director, it is your responsibility to establish an office culture in which employees feel comfortable expressing themselves.
  3. Be respectful of yourself and others. When building positive relationships, it is important to act in a respectful manner. Be respectful to your co-workers by listening to their positions and responding in a professional manner. Respect yourself by staying in control of your emotions and using your best judgment when working towards conflict resolution with co-workers. For example: If you are having a disagreement with a co-worker, take a few deep breaths before responding or agree to discuss the issue at a later time so that you can walk away from the situation and come up with an appropriate, professional response.
  4. Be willing to compromise. The work environment requires that co-workers work together as a team. Compromise involves each party getting something that he or she wants so that everyone wins.
  5. Get to know your co-workers on a personal level. Cultivating relationships with your co-workers can improve work relations and improve your support system at work. Participate in organization-wide volunteer programs, share personal interests during lunch, and find opportunities to spend time with co-workers outside of the office.
 4. in my opinion Participatory managers is best option because it allows employees to directly participate in the process of managing themselves, completing special tasks and overseeing certain facility operations. You are not making the employee a co-manager, only delegating tasks that give employees a sense of responsibility and ownership of the job. Be certain to explain all delegated tasks and responsibilities in detail, and match the task with employees possessing the proper skill set. Employees should always be praised and recognized for efforts, and encouraged to provide input and concerns throughout every process.
